Since starting this blogging adventure, we have been looking for a vlogging camera. It might just be the Insta360 Go 3. Recently Insta360 launched the 3rd gen of their trendy Go model, the Insta360 Go 3. And it seems to have been positively received by tech reviewers worldwide. And this made us wonder if this would be the perfect first vlogging camera for us. Full disclosure; we have never owned a purpose-built camera of any kind for our blogging and vlogging purposes, action or otherwise. This is very much the pondering of would-be buyers trying to convince themselves to get this camera.
What’s New?
The Insta360 Go 3 is a versatile camera that can be used as a wearable action cam or a traditional action cam with the bundled Action Pod housing. The Action Pod features a touch screen with a flip-over design so you can set up shots from behind or in front of the lens. It also serves the function of a charging case. And not to mention it can function as a remote viewfinder when separated from the camera unit.
The camera records quality 2.7K30 footage which is higher than the old model and can accompany you on underwater journeys at depths of up to 16 feet.
What’s In The Box?
Inside the box, the Go 3 comes with a Magnetic Pendant, an Easy Clip, and a Pivot Stand. The Magnetic Pendant works by wearing it around the neck like a necklace and placing it under a shirt. Then, the Go 3 module sticks to it over the shirt, where the magnets will secure the pieces together. The Action Pod features a touch screen with a flip-over design so you can set up shots from behind or in front of the lens.
As a beginner, we feel like this is a lot of accessories to be bundled with the box. And we feel like we do not need to spend any more in order to get set and go. Maybe the Monkey Grip though. That looks fun.
Features We Like In Insta360 Go 3
The Insta360 Go 3 boasts distinct attributes that set it apart from other cameras. Notably, its FlowState stabilization employs AI to effortlessly refine footage by eliminating shakes and jitters. Furthermore, the Horizon Lock ensures a level horizon, even when the camera undergoes tilting or rotation. The camera introduces FlashCut 2.0, an automated feature that crafts videos from clips, adhering to themes and accompanied by music.
On the other hand, the GoPro Hero 11 Black showcases remarkable features as well. HyperSmooth 4.0 stabilization, also AI-powered, effectively steadies footage and corrects horizons. The TimeWarp 3.0 functionality enables the creation of seamless time-lapse videos embellished with speed variations and audio. Additionally, this camera facilitates live streaming on diverse platforms like YouTube and Facebook.
And we cannot forget the Insta360 app which is one of the biggest reasons we want this camera. The simple and easy-use features of the app make it very appealing to us. Not to mention the AI-assisted auto editing.
What About The GoPro?
The Insta360 Go 3 is an awesome action cam from a great brand, but can it go toe-to-toe with the likes of GoPro? Let’s compare it to the GoPro Hero 11 Black.
The Insta360 Go 3 can record video up to 2.7K resolution at 50 fps, or up to Full HD resolution at 120 fps. The camera can also capture photos up to 9 MP with HDR mode. The battery life of the camera is about 15 minutes per charge, but it comes with a charging case that can extend it up to 150 minutes.
The GoPro Hero 11 Black can record video up to 5K resolution at 60 fps, or up to 4K resolution at 120 fps. The camera can also capture photos up to 23 MP with HDR mode and SuperPhoto mode. The battery life of the camera is about an hour per charge, but it depends on the settings and features used.
Price
The camera is too small to support any standard storage cards while remaining waterproof, so Insta360 sells it in several configurations with various storage amounts: $379.99 for 32GB, $399.99 for 64GB, and $429.99 for 128GB.
